About Us

At Accurate Building Company we treat our customers like family and before hiring a roofing contractor in Myrtle Beach we thought you might want to get to know us a little better! Below you’ll get to know our family and the heart of our company which is to serve you!

Robert Godwin, President

I was Born in Tampa, Florida in 1976, as part of a military family, my Father was an Aircraft mechanic for the US Airforce working on F4’s on McDill AFB. My mother was an Accountants assistant for a local accounting company in Tampa.  I learned a great deal about cultural diversity at a young age, my father’s career in the air force had us living nine years in Europe, five years in Northern Maine, finally settling in Myrtle Beach, SC. I received my education from the Department of Defense school system, as well as the South Carolina public schools graduating from Socastee High School in 1994, after that I received an associate’s degree in Civil Engineering at Horry-Georgetown Technical College, in Conway South Carolina.

I didn’t start off wanting to work in the home building industry or becoming one of the best roofing contractors in Myrtle Beach. I originally worked in restaurants for a long time during and after high school. My first construction job was working at a concrete spandex and block plant. I was very young and very strong so naturally I got to do all the heavy lifting that was required for this plant. Believe me when I say there was no shortage of heavy lifting that was required at this job. As I got closer to wrapping up my degree, I began working on a land surveying crew in 1998. I then moved on to a materials testing firm where I engaged in a multitude of material engineering activities to include: foundation inspection, soils density testing, post-tension slab inspection, Geotechnical soils investigations, and asphalt testing. While I worked for this materials engineering firm I got to work on many road projects in the Myrtle Beach area to include the 501-overpass widening, the construction of several different parts of Grissom Parkway, and the removal of Jetport road and the construction of  Harrellson Blvd.

In 2003 I wanted to get into building construction. I didn’t care what kind I just knew that I wanted to build houses or buildings. I didn’t want to work on roads any longer. I felt like road projects didn’t progress as fast as I wanted them too. I started working for a local General Contractor remodeling Beachwear stores. This was where I really began to cut my teeth on general contracting and prepare my path to becoming one of the best roofing contractors in Myrtle Beach. As the market for housing boomed in 2003  I was shortly recruited to begin working for Centex homes in the Barefoot resort housing community. This community is one of the prides of North Myrtle Beach. . After a year working in a higher end, high volume neighborhood, I was promoted to head a high-profile multi family neighborhood constructing townhomes, golf condos, and luxury condos as well as 4 neighborhoods of varying size single family homes. I had found my calling. That was until the crash of 2008 and 9 came.

It was during this time around the beginning of 2009 that I had been offered the unique opportunity to become a managing Partner for Trademark Building Company and handled the construction of a 650-bldg. military privatization project in Camp Lejeune NC. From there we branched out to Cherry point Air station and completed a 200-bldg. duplex project. At the same time we worked a 125-unit multi-family project in Guantanamo Bay Cuba for the Department of Navy.

Accurate Building Company was originally opened in December of 2009 for the purpose of allowing me to build investment property for myself personally, I would find a great deal on a piece of property in Myrtle Beach,SC and my wife and I would design a spec home to sell it on occasion. This was something my wife and I could design and complete together.  And as the market in Myrtle beach area started to pick up steam in 2012. I used the opportunity to sell my stake in Trademark Building Company and stay focused on my family and Accurate Building Company in the Myrtle Beach area.
